Reproductive Equity Now, Advocates Testify Against 20-Week Abortion Ban Proposal
Today, Reproductive Equity Now’s Senior Director of Policy & Programs, Claire Teylouni, testified in front of the New Hampshire House Judiciary Committee in opposition to H.B. 1590, legislation that would establish a 20-week abortion ban in New Hampshire. After the Committee hearing, the Judiciary Committee entered into executive session during which they recommended the bill inexpedient to legislate (ITL), meaning they recommended that the bill not advance, on a 13-4 vote.

Reproductive Equity Now Urges Lawmakers to Strengthen Protections for Abortion Providers
Yesterday, Reproductive Equity Now’s Connecticut State Director, Liz Gustafson, testified in front of the General Law Committee of the Connecticut Legislature in support of S.B. 227. This legislation will further protect the privacy, confidentiality, and safety of abortion and gender-affirming care providers by allowing medications prescribed for reproductive and gender-affirming health care services to be labeled with the name of the prescribing or dispensing practice, in place of the individual health care provider. Gustafson illuminated for the Committee why this measure, which mirrors laws in other key states with comprehensive “shield” protections for abortion and gender-affirming care providers, is urgently needed in the Nutmeg State.
U.S. District Court Dismisses Federal Lawsuit Against Reproductive Equity Now Foundation
The Reproductive Equity Now Foundation (RENF) released the following statement after the United States District Court of Massachusetts ruled to fully dismiss the lawsuit, A Woman’s Concern v. Maura T. Healey et al. The Reproductive Equity Now Foundation, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and RENF President Rebecca Hart Holder are all dismissed from the litigation on the merits of the case, concluding that the plaintiff’s claims failed as a matter of law.

NH Lawmakers Call for Shield Law to Protect NH Providers and Patients
Today, Senator Debra Altschiller, alongside House Minority Leader Alexis Simpson , joined Reproductive Equity Now, health care providers, and advocates for a press conference in support of the Shield Law for Reproductive Health Care Access (SB 551), legislation that would protect patients and providers in New Hampshire from out-of-state political interference, intimidation, and legal threats related to reproductive health care.

New Hampshire Republicans Start Legislative Session Targeting Abortion Care
This week marks the first week of New Hampshire’s 2026 Legislative Session, and right out the gate, the legislative majorities in the House and Senate advanced two anti-abortion bills:
HB 191: Legislation that would further restrict patients from seeking abortion care by criminalizing someone for driving a young person to an abortion appointment without written parental permission. Yesterday, this bill advanced through the Senate, on party lines, with a vote of 16-8.
HB 232: Legislation that would allow any health care professional–from a receptionist to a doctor–the right to conscientiously object to providing abortion care. Today, this bill advanced through the House with a vote of 184-164.
