Over 200 New Hampshire Health Care Providers Sign Petition Against Statewide Birth Control Restrictions
A coalition of reproductive rights organizations and advocates across New Hampshire, including Reproductive Equity Now and Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, released a petition, including signatures from over 200 New Hampshire-based health care providers, against legislation that would restrict access to confidential birth control for teens. Repro Equity Now Statement After Trump Administration Cuts Millions in Title X Funding for Planned Parenthood Clinics
Today, Rebecca Hart Holder, President of Reproductive Equity Now, released the following statement after the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) formally announced that it will be freezing Title X funding for thirteen Planned Parenthood affiliates, citing their refusal to end Diversity, Equity and Inclusion practices. Title X funding provides access to critical preventative care like low-cost/free birth control, cancer screenings, and STI testing and treatment. According to Physicians for Reproductive Health, in 2022, through Title X funds, providers at sexual and reproductive health care clinics across the country were able to serve 2.6 million family planning patients. Title X funds cannot be used for abortion care.

Reproductive Equity Now, Lovering Health Center, and Equality Health Center Condemn NH House Finance Division Vote to Eliminate State’s Family Planning Program
Reproductive Equity Now, Lovering Health Center of Greenland, and Equality Health Center of Concord released the following statements after Finance Division III approved an amendment to the state budget to eliminate the New Hampshire Family Planning Program (NHFPP). “Several House majority lawmakers campaigned on a promise not to further restrict access to abortion care in New Hampshire,” Reproductive Equity Now, a Boston-based advocacy group pushing for abortion access across New England, said in a statement. “But when they had an opportunity to follow through on this promise by affirming that an individual’s right to terminate their pregnancy, prior to 24 weeks gestation, shall not be denied or infringed upon, they did not.

Lawmakers Advocate for New Hampshire Legislation Affirming Right to Abortion in Senate Public Hearing
Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee hosted a public hearing for SB 260, legislation introduced by Senator Debra Altschiller, that would codify the right to abortion prior to 24 weeks gestation in New Hampshire state law. A copy of the bill can be found HERE.
