NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts PAC Endorses Slate of Reproductive Freedom Candidates in Competitive District Races
BOSTON, Mass.–The NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts PAC, the political arm of the Commonwealth’s leading grassroots, pro-choice advocacy organization, announced the endorsement of three candidates running for state office: Christina Eckert for State Representative of the 2nd Essex District, Meg Kilcoyne for State Representative of the 12th Worcester District, and Meg Wheeler for State Senate, Plymouth and Norfolk District.
“The fate of our democracy is not the only thing on the ballot this November. The future of reproductive freedom is also at stake. Given the make-up of the federal judiciary, state legislatures are the most effective way to vindicate the right to choose. While anti-choice politicians across the country are passing anti-woman, anti-science laws intended to restrict access to reproductive health care, Massachusetts has an opportunity to expand access to care and repeal laws that create stigma and shame. We need to elect reproductive freedom champions who will fight for the ROE Act, like Christina Eckert, Meg Kilcoyne, and Meg Wheeler on November 3rd,” said Rebecca Hart Holder, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts.
All three candidates are running for seats in districts that are widely considered to be competitive in the General Election. The NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts PAC believes that Eckert, Kilcoyne, and Wheeler’s unapologetic support for the ROE Act and reproductive freedom will serve them well in their races. Both Eckert and Wheeler are challenging incumbent Republicans who oppose the ROE Act.
“The fact of the matter is that abortion is simply not the divisive topic radical anti-choice politicians would have voters believe,” said Rebecca Hart Holder. “Bay Staters overwhelmingly support access to abortion care. Eighty-three percent of Massachusetts voters believe abortion should be legal in almost all or most cases and 88 percent of voters want the experience to be supportive. If one thing is clear, it is that across Massachusetts voters want leaders who actively and unapologetically work to protect reproductive freedom. And, on November 3rd, we are confident that these three candidates will be elected to do just that at the State House.”
The general election takes place on November 3rd. The NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts PAC encourages voters to support Christina Eckert, Meg Kilcoyne, and Meg Wheeler in their races on Election Day.
