Also last month, Rebecca Hart Holder, president of advocacy group Reproductive Equity Now, sent a letter to the Department of Public Health urging the department’s licensure and certification division to investigate whether another center, Your Options Medical in Revere, is engaging in the deceptive advertising of “immediate” results ultrasounds in its new mobile van on Cape Cod.

“Something I really learned from her was, just because they tell you it’s impossible doesn’t mean it is impossible,” Rebecca Hart Holder, president of Reproductive Equity Now, told me. “It just means you might need more data; you might need better messaging; you might need better polling. You just have to figure out the right tools to make it possible.”

A review of a separate complaint about the Your Options Medical mobile unit is also underway, prompted by an Oct. 17 letter from the Boston-based organization Reproductive Equity Now. The letter, sent to DPH and the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, charges that Your Options Medical may be engaging in “deceptive practices and potentially endorsing out-of-scope diagnoses by registered nurses.”

For Democrats, there are similarly high stakes. In a get-out-the vote email, Reproductive Equity Now President Rebecca Hart Holder highlighted Zlotnik’s past House votes for abortion-access measures — and Durant’s votes against them, GBH News further reported.

“Today’s polling serves as a public mandate for our Commonwealth to go even further in expanding access to abortion and protecting patients traveling to our state—including their digital privacy.”

In an email encouraging Democrats to make campaign calls for Zlotnik, Reproductive Equity Now President Rebecca Hart Holder highlighted his past House votes for abortion-access measures — and Durant's votes against them.

“We felt yes, we felt that this was an important municipal action we should be taking,” Devlin Gauthier said. “We’ve gotten support from groups like Reproductive Equity Now that are using our bylaw and bylaws in Easthampton and Salem to bring this to other towns and cities as well,” she added.

And it's not just about advertising. Claire Teylouni, with Reproductive Equity Now, said those traveling to Massachusetts for abortions could be at risk. “With so much of our lives lived online, we can't be fully protected until our digital privacy is also protected,” she said.

Rory Millark, political and field director at Reproductive Equity Now, said equity is not possible with the second-highest child care costs in the nation. Massachusetts residents must make decisions on whether to become parents factoring in the accessibility of child care and the high cost.

On Midwife Advocacy Day, maternal and reproductive health care advocates joined the rally for expanded access to midwives. According to the advocates, Massachusetts is facing a worsening maternal health crisis.
