Reproductive Equity Now Announces Next Leg of ‘Organizing for Equity: The Roe’d Show’ in Holyoke, Salem

The series of organizing events has already mobilized more than 100 volunteers statewide

BOSTON (October 4, 2023) — Reproductive Equity Now is today launching its next leg of “Organizing for Equity: The Roe’d Show,” a series of organizing events throughout the state aimed at educating Massachusetts communities on how to access abortion care, how to identify (and avoid) dangerous anti-abortion centers, how to talk about abortion like an advocate, and ways people can help reenvision Roe and ensure reproductive equity for all. The next leg of events will take place in Holyoke and Salem this fall.

The ‘Roe’d Show’ events will also serve as opportunities for Reproductive Equity Now to hear from community members about the barriers to reproductive health care they have faced in the state. The organization focuses its organizing efforts on access deserts, gateway cities, historically underserved communities, and areas targeted by anti-abortion centers.

“Our movement’s power comes from our communities. With reproductive health care under attack nationwide, building grassroots power friend-to-friend and neighbor-to-neighbor is how we can stand up and take back our rights,” said Rebecca Hart Holder, Reproductive Equity Now President. “Our Roe’d Show events aim to mobilize volunteers to be advocates for reproductive equity in their own communities. We’re giving people the tools to talk about abortion like an advocate and working to ensure every person across our Commonwealth knows how they can access legitimate, compassionate reproductive health care. We can’t wait to take our show on the road to Holyoke and Salem this fall.”

Reproductive Equity Now has held ‘Roe’d Show’ events in Great Barrington, Worcester, and Falmouth over the last three months. The organization has already mobilized more than 100 volunteers and advocates across the state. Additional ‘Roe’d Show’ stops will be announced in the coming weeks.

The ‘Roe’d Show’ comes as 21 states have banned or severely restricted access to abortion care nationwide. Since the fall of Roe last June, Massachusetts has passed a best-in-the-nation shield law to protect providers and patients seeking reproductive health care in the state, made abortion more affordable by mandating insurance coverage for care, and expanded access to medication abortion on college campuses. The state has also put forward nearly $20 million to support abortion access and infrastructure throughout Massachusetts.
