Reproductive Equity Now Responds to FDA Quiet Approval of Second Generic Form of Mifepristone

“Even this anti-abortion administration can’t deny mifepristone is safe and effective”

Boston, MA (October 2, 2025) – Reproductive Equity Now released a statement following the breaking news that the Federal Drug Administration quietly approved a second generic form of mifepristone - one of the two medications used in medication abortions.

“Despite trying to keep it a secret, even this anti-abortion administration couldn’t deny the truth: mifepristone is safe and effective,” said Taylor St. Germain, co-Executive Director for Reproductive Equity Now.  “But make no mistake — their attacks aren’t stopping. They’ve already said they’re moving ahead with a junk-science study to try to undermine people’s access to care. Reproductive Equity Now will continue to fight for abortion access for everyone who needs or wants it — and we won’t stop until that’s a reality.”
