Reproductive Equity Now Launches 2026 New Hampshire Legislative Agenda
READ: This year, REN prioritizes protecting providers & patients, strengthening support for moms and families, & defending against attacks on abortion access
Concord, NH (January 15, 2026) – Reproductive Equity Now announced its agenda for the 2026 New Hampshire legislative session.
“New Hampshire is facing a major health care access crisis. Our system is being stretched thin by funding cuts, provider shortages, and the steady erosion of our health care infrastructure. At the same time, abortion providers across the country are under coordinated attack by anti-abortion extremists, leaving patients with fewer and fewer options for care,” said Christina Warriner Hamilton, New Hampshire State Director of Reproductive Equity Now. “This legislative session, our leaders must act to stabilize and strengthen our health care ecosystem — by protecting providers, supporting moms and families, and ensuring that every Granite Stater can access the care they need. Instead, just days into the session, the Legislative Majority has already signaled its willingness to put partisan agendas ahead of people’s health. Reproductive Equity Now will continue to push back against these threats while advancing the protections and access expansions our communities urgently need.”
The organization’s 2026 legislative priorities include:
Protecting Patients and Providers
As states with anti-abortion laws attempt to influence and control how other states deliver health care, New Hampshire patients and providers deserve protection from this type of government overreach. That’s why this session, Reproductive Equity Now is advocating for a Shield Law for Reproductive Health Care Access (SB 551), which would ensure that New Hampshire law protects patients and providers from the reach of hostile out-of-state actors, allowing providers to practice and patients to access legal care in New Hampshire without fear of retribution from outside states or actors with different laws.Strengthening & Expanding Perinatal Care and Support for Moms and Families
Reproductive Equity Now is committed to building on the bipartisan progress made by Momnibus 2.0 last year for maternal health equity. That’s why Reproductive Equity Now is focused on pushing forward legislation that expands access to key supports for Granite State moms—like diapers for low-income families (HB 1798) and insurance coverage for postpartum pelvic floor therapy (HB 1656). Simultaneously, we are committed to pushing back against proposed legislation that would strip moms of workplace protections for postpartum and pediatric appointments (HB 1250).Defending Against Threats to Abortion Access
With an anti-abortion trifecta in the New Hampshire state government, we’re focused on defending the legal right to abortion, pushing back against efforts to erode our rights, and combating the spread of disinformation that undermines trust in care and puts patients at risk. Legislative proposals we are pushing back against include a 20-week abortion ban (HB 1590), a ban on abortion referrals by medical facilities that receive state funds (HB 1769), the promotion of medical disinformation about medication abortion (HB 1702), and more.

Last week, Reproductive Equity Now released a statement regarding action taken by the legislative majorities in the House and Senate to advance two anti-abortion bills in the first two days of session: HB 191 and HB 232. The decision to fast-track these bills sends a dangerous and unmistakable signal: restricting reproductive health care will be a top priority for the Majority this legislative session. This move confirms that New Hampshire lawmakers are actively advancing policies to limit abortion access for Granite Staters—despite repeated campaign promises to the contrary.
