Hart Holder to Step Down as President of Reproductive Equity Now

Reproductive Equity Now enters next chapter positioned for continued leadership and impact

Boston, MA (January 27, 2026) – Reproductive Equity Now today announced that President Rebecca Hart Holder will transition out of her role after nine years of leadership. Hart Holder’s final day with Reproductive Equity Now will be February 27, 2026.

Deputy Director Taylor St. Germain and Senior Director of Policy and Programs Claire Teylouni will serve as Interim Executive Directors during the transition, providing experienced, mission-driven leadership as the organization advances its next phase of growth and impact across New England.

“Helping build Reproductive Equity Now into a regional force for reproductive equity has been the honor of my professional life. Over the past decade, Reproductive Equity Now has helped shape the future of reproductive freedom in New England: responding to federal attacks, repealing decades-old abortion bans, and building protections that meet this moment with strength and foresight. Together, we delivered results during some of the most volatile moments in modern history for abortion access,” said Rebecca Hart Holder, President of Reproductive Equity Now. “As I step away, what endures is not any one victory, but the infrastructure, leadership, and movement power we’ve built across New England. Reproductive Equity Now is strong, strategic, and ready for what comes next. I leave deeply grateful to the staff, board, partners, and supporters who prove every day that reproductive equity is not only worth fighting for, it’s winnable.”

“Becca leaves behind an extraordinary legacy, and we are profoundly grateful for her nine years of leadership, vision, and commitment to this organization and movement,” said Kathy Gasperine, Chair of the Reproductive Equity Now Board of Directors, and Gary Daffin, Chair of the Reproductive Equity Now Foundation Board of Directors. “We have full confidence in Claire and Taylor as they lead the organization through this transition. With proven leadership, a strong foundation, and a clear strategic direction, Reproductive Equity Now is prepared to meet this moment and continue delivering impact across New England and beyond.”

“Becca has led Reproductive Equity Now with clarity, conviction, and deep care for nearly a decade. She has ushered in policies to codify abortion access, helped pass best-in-the-nation shield laws, and worked to expand Reproductive Equity Now’s advocacy impact across our region. Becca has built a durable, results-driven organization designed to lead in moments of uncertainty,” said Claire Teylouni and Taylor St. Germain, incoming Interim Executive Directors. “We are entering this next chapter from a position of strength—with a seasoned team, the infrastructure needed to meet this moment, and a clear mandate to advance reproductive equity across New England. The work continues, and the urgency of the challenges ahead demands sustained leadership, focus, and momentum—qualities Reproductive Equity Now is well positioned to deliver.”

Hart Holder joined Reproductive Equity Now (then known as NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts) in 2017.  Under her leadership, Reproductive Equity Now grew from a small, Massachusetts-based organization into the first regional reproductive equity advocacy organization in the nation. Today, the organization is recognized nationally for its strategic policy wins, rapid-response capacity, and ability to translate advocacy into durable protections.

Under Hart Holder’s leadership, Reproductive Equity Now:

  • Successfully advocated for the Contraceptive ACCESS Law in response to President Donald Trump’s decision to gut the birth control mandate in the Affordable Care Act.

  • In response to the ascension of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and death of Justice Ruth Ginsburg, led the fight for the ROE Act, which repealed anti-choice restrictions and expanded access to abortion care throughout the Commonwealth.

  • Responded to the fall of Roe with a best-in-the-nation Shield Law to protect patients and providers from hostile out-of-state litigation. This shield law was updated in 2025 to include enhanced protections.

  • Launched an Abortion Legal Hotline to support hundreds of Massachusetts and Connecticut patients, providers, and helpers seeking abortion care.

  • Rebranded and reorganized the organization as Reproductive Equity Now, with an expanded mission to become the first regional reproductive freedom organization in the nation.

  • Together with other state-based leaders, founded and launched the State Abortion Access Network to support state-based organizations fighting for reproductive freedom.
