On Second Anniversary of Dobbs Decision, Reproductive Equity Now Launches Ad Campaign to Raise Awareness of Abortion Legal Hotline

The $75K buy includes digital ads, five billboards, and MBTA and bus ads throughout the state

BOSTON (June 24, 2024) – Today, on the second anniversary of the Dobbs decision, the Reproductive Equity Now Foundation launched a $75,000 ad campaign across Massachusetts directing patients and providers to the Abortion Legal Hotline. The ad buy will run for the duration of the summer digitally and on the Orange and Red Lines of the MBTA, on the exterior and interior of various MBTA bus lines originating in South Boston and Dorchester, and across billboards in Dorchester, Allston, Brockton, and Walpole.

The Abortion Legal Hotline is a free and confidential abortion information resource built in collaboration with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, non-profit partners, and five law firms across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Hotline connects Massachusetts-based health care providers and helpers, as well as patients obtaining care in Massachusetts, with free legal advice and resources about their legal rights to access and provide lawful abortions.

“Since the fall of Roe two years ago, Reproductive Equity Now has been at the forefront of the fight to put accurate, up-to-date reproductive health care information in the hands of patients across the state. This ad campaign is a critical next step in that fight,” said Rebecca Hart Holder, President of Reproductive Equity Now. “In a post-Dobbs world, misinformation about abortion access and abortion laws runs rampant. Despite our protections for care in Massachusetts, we get many questions to the Abortion Legal Hotline about how patients can legally and safely access care in our state, and what tools are at providers’ disposal to continue providing abortions to patients from near and far. These ads will amplify the free and confidential Abortion Legal Hotline into more communities, and help ensure that anyone seeking or providing abortion care has the tools and information they need.”

The Abortion Legal Hotline was launched in February 2023, and has since received more than 100 calls from abortion patients and providers across the state. The Hotline was built in partnership with the Women’s Bar Foundation, Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, ACLU of Massachusetts, Planned Parenthood of MA, Foley Hoag LLP, Goodwin Procter LLP, Goulston & Storrs PC, Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, P.C., and Ropes & Gray LLP.
